Cohort 5

Charlotte Atkinson

Background:

Before starting at Aura, I did a mechanical engineering MEng at the University of Liverpool. I fell in love with offshore wind energy whilst I was completing my Master’s project in designing and manufacturing a mobile vertical-axis wind turbine and started to explore wind energy.

Research Interests:

I am interested in helping to make offshore wind energy more efficient in order to help it overtake energy production by non-renewable energy sources.

Why you applied for the Aura CDT:

I applied to Aura as I am passionate about helping reach net-zero and reducing the impact of humans the climate. Aura to me felt like the best place to start with this as it will give me the tools I need to have a successful and meaningful career in research.

Aura CDT activities:

I am currently the Charity & Community Outreach Rep on the Aura CDT Student Committee.
