Industry Partners

Industry Partners

The Aura CDT is the result of long term and extensive collaboration between the academic and key industry partners. We currently have over 20 industry partners, helping to ensure the training and experience provided in the CDT addresses the broad range of challenges that the offshore wind industry faces.

The Aura CDT’s six research themes were originally informed by a series of industry workshops facilitated by Aura. These themes will continue to evolve throughout the lifetime of the CDT to ensure they remain aligned to industry priorities.

The interdisciplinary nature of the OSW industry means that there are a wide range of stakeholders including large and small companies who are active at different stages of OSW farm development. Our industry partners are representative of this range. They are involved in delivering training and offering placements, as well as providing industry supervision, ensuring that students are exposed to current offshore wind issues throughout their time at the CDT. Some PhD projects will be defined in consultation with industry; others directly defined by partner companies.

We are currently recruiting for two Industry Partner Scholarships in conjunction with the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult. These funded studentships cover fees and stipend and include a year’s PG-Dip training, taken alongside the other Aura CDT students, followed by 3 years of PhD research supported by the industry partner. The research proposal for each Industry Scholarships has been developed in conjunction with the industry partner in order to meet a specific challenge facing the offshore wind sector.

See Industry Scholarships for more information on current opportunities for students.

We already have three students in Cohort 2 who will be conducting research with either the ORE Catapult or Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The research proposal for each project has been developed in conjunction with the industry partner in order to meet a specific challenge facing the offshore wind sector. See Research Projects for more information.

Further partnerships are in development. The website will be updated when further Industry Scholarships are released for recruitment.

There are range of opportunities open to industry partners to collaborate with the Aura CDT. If you wish to explore these further, please contact auracdt@hull.ac.uk
