The 2022 Aura Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) conference brought industry and academia to come together to share the latest research on the theme of 'Transitioning to Clean Energy'.

Conference programme in brief

Day 1 - Tues 1 November

We open the conference with a lively blend of presentations and discussion sessions, including:   

Keynote Address Juergen Maier, Former CE-Siemens UK

Industry Speakers Will Apps, Crown Estates Ian Livingston, Equinor

Followed by a Panel discussion where our speakers will be joined by Jane Cooper, RenewableUK.

Academic talks A diverse set of talks by Academics from our partner Institutions, alongside PhD researchers with the Aura CDT, presenting the research solutions of tomorrow. Topics include: Grid Integration – Transmitting the Energy Revolution; Manufacturing-  Infusing the Next Generation; Operations & Maintenance – Powering Performance Monitoring; Co-Location – Sharing in Success

Day 2 - Wed 2 November

Day Two will be a blend of talks, research presentations and interactive activities with:   

Industry speakers John Harris, HR Wallingford; David Bould, Ørsted; Chris Briggs, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy; Ross Wigg, Vercity Consultancy

Research presentations Our talented PhD researchers and colleagues will showcase our expertise and innovation in addressing the global issue of developing sustainable offshore wind energy, working around session themes: Environmental Changes – Sediment, Scour & the Seabed; Innovations in energy storage; Operations & Maintenance – Optimisation via Digitalisation; Under the Sea – Marine Life in a Changing World
