Conference 2024

Aura Centre for Doctoral Training

in offshore wind energy and the environment

Conference 16-18 January 2024 The Acceleration of Offshore Wind Targets

The annual Aura Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) conference is an opportunity for invited individuals from industry and academia to come together to share the latest research around offshore wind and its environmental impacts.

We welcomed presentations from Victoria Metheringham (DEFRA), Marie Renner (EDF UK), Tom Nightingale (Equinor), Dr Niall Tracey (GEOxyz), Dr Andrew Jenkins (Kinewall), Natascha Engel (Ex-MP and CEO Palace Yard) and Andrew Elmes (Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy), as well as representatives of Ecowind Projects.

The conference schedule also featured:

– Further presentations from offshore wind sector representatives

– Leading academics from our Partner Institutions

– Cutting-edge research from our Aura CDT researchers

– Conference Dinner at The Deep

Attendees networked with colleagues from the Offshore Wind Industry and academics solving the engineering and environmental challenges facing the sector.

“Rapid growth of offshore wind energy is central to the UK’s ambitious Build Back Greener strategy supporting Net-Zero 2050. Developing the technology and the talent for the sustainable delivery of offshore wind is a key industrial and environmental challenge. Here Aura, and the Humber region, is leading the way globally. We look forward to showcasing our state-of-the-art research, development and innovation supporting UK’s aspirations for offshore wind energy.”
