Conference 28-30 January 2025 Plans for Offshore Wind Industry Growth

The annual EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training in Offshore Wind Energy Conference is an opportunity to hear from leading industry figures and rising stars in PhD research. Our conference theme this year is “Plans for Offshore Wind Industry Growth”.

Attendees will have the opportunity to network with colleagues from the Offshore Wind Industry and CDT academic researchers solving the engineering, environmental, technological and socio-economic challenges facing the sector.

The event spans three research-packed days and will be held at the West Park Teaching HUB, West Campus, Loughborough University.

Outline Conference Programme

Day 1 - Tues 28 January 2025

Registration from 16:45 with poster & networking wine reception 17:00 – 18:00

An opportunity to view the cross-disciplinary research projects that are undertaken by our current CDT PhD researchers in visual form. Our CDT researchers represent the next generation of offshore wind leaders and will be accompanying their posters to discuss their work and answer questions about their cutting-edge research.

Day 2 - Wed 29 January 2025

We have scheduled a lively programme of presentations from our CDT PhD researchers working in various academic fields linked to a resilient future for the offshore wind sector, alongside industry speakers:

Dan McGrail, Chief Executive, RenewableUK

Tim Pick MBE, Chair of the UK’s Offshore Wind Growth Partnership, and a Commissioner on the UK’s Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission

Day 3 - Thu 30 January 2025

A diverse programme of presentations from our CDT PhD researchers working on cross-disciplinary research projects providing research development and innovation solutions for the offshore wind industry, alongside speakers from industry and academia:

Danielle Lane, Director of Offshore Development UK and Ireland, RWE

Day 3 - Thu 30 January 2025

On Thursday, we will also host a panel discussion, chaired by Jane Cooper, Director of Offshore Wind at RenewableUK. Panellists include, Danielle Lane (Director of Offshore Development UK and Ireland, RWE), Tim Pick (MBE, Chair of the UK’s Offshore Wind Growth Partnership, and a Commissioner on the UK’s Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission) and Victoria Bessonova (Wind Energy Analyst, SSE Renewables and CDT Researcher).
