With a strong research base, the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull has made tremendous contributions to tackle global issues encompassing environmental resilience and energy sustainability.

With our academic partners at the Universities of Durham, Newcastle and Sheffield and over 20 international Industry partners, the Aura CDT forms a community of outstanding researchers. All students will benefit from individual and tailored mentoring support, with appropriate mentors selected from our academic and industrial partners. Combined with excellent facilities across a wide range of disciplines, the Aura CDT provides a stimulating and enriching environment for the training of doctoral researchers.

Applications are now open for the second cohort joining us in September 2020; the closing date is 13 December 2019.  All students start with a full-time, 1 year taught Postgraduate Diploma. This will be followed by a 3 year PhD with one of the academic institutions, aligned with the Aura industry partners or based at the new £12 million flagship Aura Innovation Centre. Here, you will have access to cutting-edge facilities and research support across the partner academic institutions.
