Jessmond Elvina
Background:
I have 7 years of experience as an economist with the national government of the Philippines where I worked both in the executive and legislative branches. I worked as a competition economist reviewing merger transactions and investigating coordinated behaviour. Then I moved to the Philippine Senate working as an energy economist focusing on developments in the Philippine energy sector, particularly in renewable energy.
I have a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University with a specialisation in Data Transformation and Analytics and an undergraduate degree in Applied Physics from the University of the Philippines.
Research Interests:
My current research interests are in renewable energy and the energy transition. I aim to explore how market structures, government policies, and incentives can help advance the adoption of various renewable energy technologies globally and further the energy transition. At the same time, I am also interested in the evolution of energy demand from households and businesses as technology further advances and changes how different groups consume energy.
Why I applied for the Aura CDT:
The Aura CDT program provides a solid background in the offshore wind industry as well as the chance to collaborate with experts in different fields involved in offshore wind. This interdisciplinary approach allows us to develop wide and varied viewpoints that are critical when addressing complicated questions. Finally, the Aura CDT program provides an opportunity to develop new skills in the field of offshore wind as well as apply my previous experience in economics and public policy.
