Teri Farthing

Background:

I graduated from the University of Hull in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, and subsequently, I completed my Master’s degree in Marine Science in 2023. My Master’s program was research-focused, culminating in a thesis that explored the ecology, conservation, and potential restoration strategies for seagrass meadows in the United Kingdom. This academic journey allowed me to develop a solid foundation in marine science, building upon the strong marine biology background I acquired during my undergraduate years. It has also deepened my commitment to studying and preserving the delicate marine ecosystems that play a crucial role in our global environment.

Research Interests:

I am deeply passionate about researching anthropogenic impacts on marine environments and exploring sustainable ways to collaborate with these ecosystems. Through interdisciplinary research, I aim to uncover innovative solutions that foster a harmonious coexistence with the marine environment.

Why you applied for the Aura CDT:

I applied to the Aura CDT program due to my keen interest in its interdisciplinary approach. I’m excited about the opportunity to collaborate with individuals from diverse academic backgrounds, as I’m actively seeking to expand my skill set. By engaging with peers from various fields, I aim to broaden my horizons, foster innovative solutions, and contribute to the program’s overarching mission.

Aura CDT activities:

I am currently Treasurer for the Aura CDT Student Committee.

My PhD Research: The role of marine growth on the performance and survivability of dynamic subsea cables
