Entry requirements

We are now open for recruitment for September 2025 entry. Please check our Scholarships page for a list of open projects, or browse our Research Projects page for projects that are ‘open to new applicants’.
 
The EPSRC CDT in Offshore Wind Energy Sustainability and Resilience recruits applicants who have received or expect to receive either 1) a first class honours degree* or 2) a 2:1 honours degree and a Masters* or 3) a Distinction at Masters level and any undergraduate degree* (*or the international equivalents). The CDT broadly recruits individuals with qualifications in the following, or associated subjects:

  • Exercise Science
  • Engineering
  • Geography
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Psychology
  • Statistics
If your first language is not English, or you require a Student Visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level that meets the requirements of the Aura CDT’s academic partners. This course requires academic IELTS 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in each skill.

  • complete transcripts (and final degree certificate(s) where possible). If your qualification documents are not in English, you will need to supply copies of your original language documents as well as their official translation into English.

  • A completed Supplementary Application Form (please upload according to instructions on the project page).

Guidance on completing your application: 

Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the Aura CDT website before you apply to give you a good understanding of what a CDT is, our CDT’s research focus and the training and continuing professional development programme that runs alongside the CDT. The Frequently asked questions page and Candidate resources page are essential reading prior to applying

Ensure you complete all sections of the Supplementary Application Form in font and size Calibri 11pt, specify the research project you are applying for and upload the form with your application when fully completed.

Once fully completed, you should upload the form with your application:

Durham University – please upload when asked to add Personal Statement. The Form replaces the Personal Statement and so you do not need to complete the Personal Statement section.

University of Hull – please upload when asked to add a Research Proposal (the Form replaces the Research Proposal which is not needed for this application). 

Loughborough University – please upload as part of your supporting evidence documentation. 

University of Sheffield – please upload when asked to add Supporting Statement. The Form replaces the Supporting Statement and so you do not need to complete the Supporting Statement section.

(You will also be asked for your degree transcripts during the application process).

Please do not send your form directly to the CDT.

Interviews will be held during mid-January 2025.
